Simulating NT Authentication locally with Apache

Apache Add comments

I had to set up a site locally to test my application using NT Authentication before it went to BP so thought I'd share this on the blog.First, edit your apache config file and configure your VirtualHost like the sample attached below (download icon). Open a command window and change the path to the Apache bin folder: C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\bin Then enter the following command: htpasswd -c ../passwdfile niall.odoherty

  • "passwdfile" is the name of the file the command will create. It's location is then specified in the "AuthUserFile" path above.
  • "niall.odoherty" is the NT ID you wish to use and will be avilable in the CGI.HTTP_USER variable.

Thanks to Simon W for help with this.
